In a landmark year of Insider Experiences, InterContinental Sydney is delighted to add to its series, welcoming German artist Jeannine Platz as she brings the Suite View project to Australia.

The Suite View project is a world tour of incredible art and innovation, capturing the globe’s most spectacular skylines from iconic hotel suites. Jeannine will transform the InterContinental Sydney suite into a unique art room, using exclusive Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge views as inspiration for the Australian work.

Painted using only her hands, a spatula and oil, the canvas spanned the floor of the suite for 40 hours’ worth of work. Famous for using only her hands, Jeannine Platz said: “Without a brush I can feel the colour and the canvas. The feeling is the most important thing while I am painting. I never think with my brain when I am painting; I only feel.”

Strengthening InterContinental’s strong reputation for delivering immersive Insider Experiences for its guests, Jeannine surprised guests with a live performance of a second oil painting inside Club InterContinental, drawing inspiration for the hotel’s level 31 Club lounge and 270 degree panoramic views of Sydney Harbour. The special work was gifted to InterContinental Sydney to keep inside the hotel and remains on show.

Jeannine Platz, Suite View artist, said: “Sydney was on my wish list from the first day of my worldwide project; I knew I wanted to capture the world famous landmarks of Australia. I am very happy to paint the view from InterContinental Sydney because, uniquely, I can paint both landmarks in one picture. I am pleased to be touched from the atmosphere.”

The painting will form part of an exclusive collection of work to be showcased in the Elbphilharmonie, a new built concert house and landmark in Hamburg, Germany. The exhibition launch will celebrate the opening of the Elbphilharmonie in April 2017.

Among the iconic skylines, InterContinental hotels across the global will form part of the final collection, including oil paintings from InterContinental New York Times Square, InterContinental Los Angeles Century City and InterContinental Hong Kong.
